Idol Chartwatch, May 27: Jordin Sparks’ “Battlefield” Hits the Charts

by Donna Reynolds -- 05/27/2009
American Idol Season 6 champ Jordin Sparks debuted her new single on the top three results show, and this week it hits the charts with a splash. Read on to find out where it hit and get an update on all of the Idols’ music.

After performing her new single, “Battlefield” on the American Idol 8 results show, Jordin Sparks becomes the latest and last recipient of the Billboard post-Idol appearance bump. “Battlefield” debuts on the Hot 100 at #32 and also charts on the Pop 100 (37), Hot Digital Tracks (11), and Hot Digital Songs (12). Jordin will hit the road this summer, opening for the Jonas Brothers.

There’s nothing else new on the singles charts this week, but next week, expect a flood of new Idol music as Season 8’s download numbers are allowed to be tallied on the digital charts. We’ll be particularly interested in finding out where Kris Allen’s “No Boundaries” opens, and whether or not any of Adam Lambert’s tracks (such as his version of “No Boundaries”) make the charts.
