Idol Chartwatch, December 30: Idols Hold Their Own on the Billboard Charts

With nothing much new on the charts this week, Idol albums remained stable on the various charts. There is also news of a new Idol single set for release. Read on for more.
Idol holiday tunes are still charting on the various charts this week. Kimberley Locke’s “We Need a Little Christmas.” is #19 on the Adult Contemporary chart while Carrie Underwood’s “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” is #16 on Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and #48 on Hot Country Songs. Carrie’s duet with Elvis Presley, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” is #54 on Hot Country Songs.
Josh Gracin’s “Telluride,” is #56 on Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and Mandisa’s “Angels We Have Heard on High” is #29 on Hot Christian Adult Contemporary.
Elliott Yamin’s My Kind of Holiday charts at #73 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums this week, quite a feat for a holiday album considering the competition.
New Idol Music
Season 7 semi-finalist, Kady Malloy, has just released her first single, “Broken Dreams.”” The song is available for download on Amazon.com by clicking the link.
Another Season 7 alum, Chikezie, appears to be on the verge of signing a deal with Universal Music. According to several bloggers cited on MJ’s Idol blog, he’s been talking about this during his performances while on tour with Kimberley Locke, David Hernandez, and Diana DeGarmo.
Idol Albums on the Charts
David Cook’s debut slipped out of the top ten on the Billboard 200 this week, ending up at #13. The album remains on the Top Internet Albums (12) and Top Rock Albums (5) charts.
In its sixth week, David Archuleta’s debut slips just one spot from #21 to #22 on the Billboard 200. Archie’s album is #23 on Top Internet Albums.
Carrie Underwood’s Carnival Ride is #54 on the Billboard 200 and #10 on Top Country Albums. Kellie Pickler’s holds at #140 on the Billboard 200 and moves up one spot to #27 on Top Country Albums.
Jennifer Hudson drops from #81 to #85 on the Billboard 200 and from #17 to #21 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Daughtry is down one spot to #105 on the Billboard 200. The album is #21 on Top Rock Albums, #18 on Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums, and #15 on Top Hard Rock Albums.
Jordin Sparks drops off the Billboard 200 this week.
Mandisa’s True Beauty CD is #45 on Top Christian Albums and #53 on Top Christian and Gospel Albums.
