View Printable version of this article It’s the holiday season, and that means Idols abound on the holiday charts. For the fifth year in a row, Season 2’s Kimberley Locke has a holiday song on the Adult Contemporary Chart, this year’s selection being “We Need a Little Christmas.” Other Idols with holiday songs on this week’s charts include Carrie Underwood’s duet with Elvis (“Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”), which is #14 on Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and #54 on Hot Country Songs, and Josh Gracin’s “Telluride,” New Idol Music Season 1 winner, Kelly Clarkson is back with her fourth album, due out March 17. The first single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” will be released to radio January 19. Season 6’s Melinda Doolittle’s first CD, Coming Back to You Meanwhile, the release date for Taylor Hicks’ new CD, as yet untitled, has been pushed back to March. Taylor is currently on the road with the musical Grease in which he appears as Teen Angel. Bo Bice has a track on a Time Life special, Gone Country, ‘70s Rock. Bo contributes his rendition of Rush’s “Closer to the Heart.” Season 7’s Amanda Overmyer has gone the indie route rather than hold out for a major label deal. Her debut, Solidify, which is available through her web site, is outstanding. It has a slight country rock edge, but with a more contemporary feel. There isn’t a bad track on the album!
