Idol Chartwatch, October 27: ‘Idol’ CDs Hold Their Own
by Donna Reynolds
-- 10/27/2008
CD sales slowed a bit last week, but American Idol albums on the charts held their own. Read on to find out who ended up in what positions this last week of October.
Before we get to this week’s chart action, I need to take a minute to address Jennifer Hudson’s personal tragedy. When I heard about the murders of her mother and brother, I felt as though it had happened to someone I knew personally. Simply put, I am devastated for her. This brings home the fact that we really do become invested in Idol contestants and share their successes, failures, and in this case, their tragedies.
All the money, success, fame, awards, and recognition in the world cannot erase the kind of pain Jennifer and her family will endure as the result of this senseless crime. All of us at Foxes on Idol send our thoughts to Jennifer and her family as they attempt to deal with this horrific loss.

New Releases
Melinda Doolittle’s debut, Coming Back to You, is set for release in January on Hi-Fi Recordings. The album is being produced by Mike Mangini who has worked with Joss Stone and the Jonas Brothers. It was recorded with a live orchestra and the press release promises an “eclectic mix.” The first single from the album, “It’s Your Love,” is set for release to radio later this month.
According to one report, Hi-Fi owns part of the Motown catalog, which includes some songs that have not been previously recorded. These old school R&B tunes would be perfect for Melinda’s retro style, and hopefully, some of these songs will be included on the album.
