Idol Albums
Kristy Lee Cook becomes the first Season 7 Idol to release an album, with the debut of Why Wait, which drops this week. Coming only a few days after the end of the tour, this release makes history of sorts, being the fastest ever to follow on the heels of the completed season.
George Huff reports that he is working on his second album, but is taking his time to get it just right. The album will be “all church.” He anticipates the album will be released in March.
Kellie Pickler’s second album, which is due out September 30, will include a duet with Taylor Swift. “Best Days of Your Life” will most likely be the second single from the album, and judging from Taylor’s popularity, should be a hit. The two-disc edition of Kellie’s album features four bonus tracks, including a version of the country standard, “Let It Be Me.”
Idol albums held steady on this week’s Billboard 200. Jordin Sparks is down one to #88 and Daughtry is also down one to #78. Daughtry is #12 on Top Hard Rock Albums and #21 on Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums. Carrie Underwood’s Carnival Ride moved up one to #42 on the Billboard 200 and was up 3 spots to #4 on Top Country Albums.
In its second week on the charts, Now That's What I Call Country, featuring Kelly Clarkson and Reba McIntire’s “Because of You,” Carrie Underwood’s “All-American Girl,” and Kellie Pickler’s “Things That Never Cross a Man’s Mind,” dropped from #7 to #15 on the Billboard 200 and from #1 to #2 on Top Country Albums.
