It’s hard to believe we’re already at the semifinal round of Dancing with the Stars 6! Mario & Karina were shown the door last week, but there are more dances to be danced before we put a wrap on this season. By now you’ve read the recap on RNO, so you know what Carrie Ann, Len, Bruno, and Jill think. But what do our judges, Sandy Lamparello and Kate Acosta, have to say?

Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska

Sandy: Jason & Edyta looked very elegant for their foxtrot. And they danced very elegantly. Their dancing was very graceful and polished, and their performance as a whole mirrored the song very well. Excellent way to start the semifinals!

For their paso doble, Jason & Edyta retained their fine form. They moved very well together and I don’t know how Edyta managed to keep her feet down when Jason was swinging her around! I really enjoyed their performance!

Kate: I thought Jason & Edyta did a fine job with the foxtrot and it was very graceful. It was nice to see Edyta finally covered up with a pretty dress. I thought Jason’s poses appeared a bit too large. Part of that is due to his height but he really seems to extend himself so they look really huge.

This was a very dramatic paso doble but Jason still did a lot of poses. Jason’s v-neck shirt with a bolero jacket was an odd combination. I thought I saw a lift as Jason lifted Edyta off the ground and spun her around. At the beginning of the show they said that lifts were no longer allowed again.

Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani

Sandy: I found Marissa’s dress very unflattering. The dance was cute though, I love that she is remembering to have fun even as the pressure has mounted. I really liked this routine, and Marissa & Tony danced it very well. Well, as soon as I said that there was a pass where Tony seemed to be dragging Marissa along a bit, but overall they both did a good job for their quickstep.

Oh wow, another bad wardrobe choice for Marissa. And I wasn’t crazy about the performance. It was a really boring rumba to me. I expected more for a semifinal performance. Not much else I can say.

Kate: Unlike Sandy, I thought Marissa looked just lovely in her dress and the grape color looked great on her. Marissa & Tony did a very nice job with the quickstep but I found it a tad boring.

For the first time, I thought Marissa’s plus size got in the way of her performance. The rumba is a very slow moving dance and her movements didn’t show up very well. It appeared that when Tony picked her up so Marissa could slide between his legs that he picked her up so both feet left the floor. Was that a lift?

Cristián de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke

Sandy: Cristián & Cheryl’s Viennese waltz was gorgeous. They’re really not letting his arm injury get them down at all. I thought Cheryl’s dress was a bit too revealing for the waltz but I liked the way it complemented Cristián’s suit. Very well done!

Cheryl must like that cut, it’s almost the same as the dress she wore for their first dance. Cristián & Cheryl’s samba started out well and got hotter and hotter as it went on. I’m really impressed with the way Cristián has overcome his injury! I was so sure he was going to have to drop out the night after it happened, and here he is, looking like he is on his way to the finals!

Kate: Cheryl looked like the disco ball trophy in her shiny silver dress while Cristián seemed light on his feet. Cristián & Cheryl had a good performance with the Viennese waltz but I felt that Cheryl did most of the work.

This was the dance Cristián got hurt on last time. Cristián & Cheryl did a great job with the samba but I still think Cristián could do better with it. He’s set the standard high on his Latin dances.

Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas

Sandy: I really loved Kristi’s dress, and the way Mark’s suit, tie, and shoes complemented it. Every little detail becomes important in the semifinals and the drama and heat of Kristi & Mark’s tango was really enhanced by how wonderful they looked together. Awesome job!

Kristi & Mark had a lot to live up to with the jive, after having earned a perfect score in their previous performance of the dance. I thought they looked awesome, and they danced very, very well. I think Kristi has firmly pulled herself back up to front-runner status.

Kate: The way the tango started, I half expected to see Kristi holding a rose between her teeth. Kristi & Mark had very good footwork. It was intense and dramatic. I thought it was the best ballroom dance of the night.

The choreography started out very slow. Kristi & Mark did a very good job but I liked their last jive better. This performance didn’t seem as much fun, but part of that was out of their control as they don’t get to choose the song.

Final Thoughts

Sandy: This was an awesome semifinal! Kristi returned to form, and Jason wasn’t far behind. Cristián isn’t giving up, though. Sadly, although she is having a great time and has done a very good job, Marissa is just not up to the level of the other stars. And her second performance this week was boring. So I think Marissa & Tony will be dancing their way off the stage this week, leaving us with Kristi & Mark, Jason & Edyta, and Cristián & Cheryl in the finals. Tune in to the results show to see if I’m right, and either way I’ll be back with next week’s final dances. Ciao!

Kate: I’m going to have to agree with the onsite judges this week in that I thought Kristi & Mark had the best performances while Marissa & Tony had the worst. Marissa has improved so much since the show started and has done a very good job getting this far, but I don’t think she danced well enough to make it to the finals.

Conclusion:

Once again our judges are in agreement. If they’re right, Marissa & Tony will be missing from the finals. Tune in Tuesday night to find out, and make sure to stick with RealityNewsOnline and FoxesOnIdol for full coverage of the exciting finale of Dancing with the Stars 6!
