American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Seventh?

by Sting7 & David Bloomberg -- 04/22/2008
Kristy Lee Cook’s fall had been predicted for weeks. Now that she is finally gone, who will David Bloomberg and the returning Sting7 choose? Could Syesha (right) finally run out of lives, or is there a more likely candidate?

Alas, Kristy Lee Cook has finally run out of time, just when it seemed like she was getting her footing. Apparently, it took too long to find her game. So, who goes next? Sting7 returns to make his predictions, and of course his statements are in regular type. When David talks, it’s always in boldface.

David, you’ve been in a bit of slump?

Yeah, no kidding. I predict Kristy to leave, she stays; I predict her to stay, she leaves! Sigh. I at least put her in the bottom three and said I wanted to predict she’d leave, but couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I can’t make heads or tails out of this season either. What I can gauge is that David Cook and David Archuleta aren’t going anywhere. No way, no how. But that’s about it. Carly, Brooke, and Syesha, are all on the bubble.

And don’t forget Jason – I still think he could be in trouble if more people start to feel the same way you and I do about him.

For bottom three, I am going with the girls: Brooke, Syesha, and Carly. What is interesting here is that Carly can’t seem to connect with the crowd. Syesha, for as many times as she has been in the bottom three (four weeks in a row?), she keeps surviving, which suggests she may be slowing building a following. Brooke, meanwhile, seems to be slipping.

I don’t think I can necessarily agree that Syesha has been gaining. I think she’s been treading water, just barely holding on and awaiting rescue. But there is no lifeboat for her, I’m afraid. Within a few weeks, tops, I think she’ll be down for the last time. For now, she’ll definitely be in the bottom three. I agree that Carly will join her there. And I can certainly go along with what you said about Brooke slipping, though, and I’ll put her in the bottom three as well.

You know, I have never been a big fan of Brooke’s, but I have to respect that she has pulled some impressive rabbits out of her hat. The high-note free version of “Hero” was definitely not one of them, and I think it cost her some credibility. I also think Brooke is in real trouble this week, and she is my pick to go home. Not Syesha, who we may have to start calling Houdini!

This is a tough call. I’m just not sure. I think with this week’s theme, Brooke will be able to pull enough out of her hat to stick around. I don’t have that same kind of gut feeling for Carly, so I’m going to predict that she’s the one heading home.

An e-mailer mentioned that Kimberley Locke used to spend a lot of time in the bottom three until she broke through. Could Syesha be heading for a top three finish as well? That’s a discussion for a different day.

Well, you can guess at my response to that question from what I said earlier – I don’t see it happening. But what both of us see happening is a bottom three of Carly, Syesha, and Brooke. I think Carly will sing her last time for us, and I think we will say goodbye to Brooke.
