Idol Chartwatch, December 14: Blake Lewis Hits the Chartsby Donna Reynolds -- 12/14/2007
View Printable version of this article Congrats to Chris Daughtry whose debut album, Daughtry, was named the most popular album of the year by Billboard magazine on Thursday. Daughtry sold 3.2 million copies, beating out Akon's Convicted (2.5 million), the Hannah Montana soundtrack (2.5 million), and Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts, which sold 2.3 million copies in 2007. Idol Album News Blake Lewis’ Audio Day Dream hits the Billboard 200 this week, entering at #10 (Hot Shot Debut) with 98,000 copies sold. This is the same spot in which Jordin’s CD debuted with 119,000 copies sold. Blake’s first week sales are a little lower than last year’s runner-up, Katharine McPhee, whose self-titled debut entered the Billboard 200 at #2 with 116,000 copies sold, and also lower than Bo Bice (227,000) or Clay Aiken (613,000). But he did better than Justin Guarini (57,000) and Diana DeGarmo (47,000), which is definitely a good thing. Audio Day Dream also shows up on the Digital chart (#3) and Internet Album Sales (#23). Jordin Sparks sold another 52,000 or so copies last week for a total of 222,000 in three weeks. The album is #24 on the Billboard 200. Some Hearts is #60 on the Billboard 200 and #16 on the Country chart. Daughtry is #33 on the Billboard 200, #25 on Internet Album sales, and #5 on the Top Rock Album. His holiday entry, Sounds of the Season: The Elliott Yamin Collection, is #190 on the Billboard 200, #65 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, #22 on the Indie list, and #33 on the Holiday chart. Now!
