“I Thought the Positives Would Outweigh the Negative” – An Interview with Rock Star: Supernova’s Jillby David Bloomberg -- 08/14/2006
View Printable version of this article Last week, Jill was one of two Rock Star contestants sent packing, after she had appeared in the bottom three multiple times. Foxes On Idol caught up to her in order to find out what her thoughts were after leaving the show. Foxes On Idol: Did you think you would be in the bottom three again this week after one of your stronger performances? Jill: I did not feel I would be in the bottom three, especially after getting a standing ovation from Supernova for singing "Alone" and after hearing Tommy say my performance of "Mother Mother" was my best. FOI: Are you surprised that you were sent home? Jill: Yes, I am, and a bit upset after hearing that not everyone in Supernova was in agreement on the decision. I thought the positives would outweigh the negative. Everything happens for a reason though. FOI: If it had been up to you, who would have gone home in your place? Jill: I'll take the fifth. FOI: And who is your pick to win? Jill: Me! Can I come back? FOI: What is the general opinion of the other contestants about Zayra’s continued survival? Jill: I can only speak for myself, her costumes are interesting. FOI: What started the discussion about playing a song with Gilby, which we saw a portion of Wednesday night? Jill: Supernova has been questioning the contestants who have not fought to share the stage with them. We always discuss the shows and this had been a subject brought up by Supernova the past two weeks and again on show night. FOI: During that discussion, you said you didn’t go for the song because you already performed with Gilby. Considering the criticism you took, why didn’t you try for it again anyway? Jill: We always try to be as fair as possible with song selection, each putting our names on three or four songs and then working out which one we are really passionate about. I had my turn, and thinking about this question, perhaps I was too polite and should have gone for it. I 'm sure you would all have loved to see that cat fight! Sorry I'm not that way, I'm about being fair. I LOVED singing "Mother Mother" – no regrets! FOI: What did you think of Storm’s comment about humping Gilby, obviously referring to you, when she was talking to Dave Navarro Thursday night? Jill: It's kinda funny because it was her idea! Thank God I didn't take her advice and jump on his back! FOI: Is the overall mood among the contestants one of camaraderie or competition? Jill: We are all friends but, as the competition got tougher, the claws got longer and so I have to say it swings both ways. Have you ever seen The Exorcist? With that said, I do understand, forgive, and love them all and I do cherish my friendships with them! FOI: Which of your performances was your favorite? Jill: My performance of "Alone" was my most heartfelt, but I have to say it felt pretty darn good jumping into the crowd during "Mother Mother"! FOI: What kind of music do you prefer to sing, and how would you compare it to the music you heard from Supernova? Jill: I am diverse. I love singing and writing from my influences and experiences. Rock, blues, soul, pop, I like to ribbon and intertwine different melodies, beats, and sounds together. I found it quite comfortable and inspiring to write to Supernova’s music, You either feel it or not – and I felt it. FOI: What’s up next for you? Jill: There is so much music to come! I did a ton of writing at the mansion and can't wait to start recording and working on my record! I can't wait to share it all with you so keep checking my website for up dates! (www.jillgioia.com) FOI: Is there anything else you want to say to your fans and our readers? Jill: Thank you for all of your support and all the love you sent my way – I could feel it! This was the experience of a lifetime and some of my most treasured moments are performing on stage and the people I met along the way. I got a fire in my belly and music to create, see you on the road! FOI: Thanks, Jill! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out these other recent articles on Foxes On Idol:
