The Facilities Management Department manages the operation, maintenance
and construction of District facilities in order to create excellent
learning environments for district students. Utilizing State and local
funds, the department has constructed science labs, rehabilitated aging
classrooms and equipment and improved safety/energy-efficiency for
buildings throughout the district. Thanks to East County voters, in
2008 Proposition U was approved and will provide $417 million in local
bond funding to improve 11 comprehensive high schools, five alternative
school sites and construct a new high school. The Facilities Management
Department is also responsible for grounds maintenance, facility
inspections, preventive maintenance, deferred maintenance, custodial
services, energy conservation, compliance with Americans with
Disabilities Act requirements, facilities safety, aquatics program, real
estate management, facility leases, joint use agreements and the
developer fee program.
